What's Your Gift - Featured Image

It’s funny how I never valued myself enough as an educator. I only saw what I lacked. What I perceived I wasn’t good at. Time and time again I highlighted it to myself. Looking at other’s gifts and wondering why I didn’t have those qualities.

I failed my gifts. I failed them because I ignored them. I didn’t place value on them.

Many of us struggle to see our gifts.

  • What am I good at?
  • What makes me unique?
  • What lights me up?

Even if we do see our gifts, we struggle to see them as being important or valuable. It is hard to see that our gifts, those things that come so easily to us matter.
They come too easy so they must be easy for everyone else.

It may not always be clear that the thing you are naturally really good at is your calling.

Look around you, what you are good at does not come easily to all. Recognize that. Value it. There is a reason you have those gifts.

We all come into this life with unique gifts to offer. We are naturally drawn to experiences and activities that we feel a calling to along the way. Through those experiences, we continue to develop our gifts. Those are our contributions to the world.

  • Value them
  • Develop them
  • Live them

Through developing, valuing, and living your gifts will you radiate joy and give back to the world.

Your gift will light you up and in turn light up the world.

So how do we identify our gifts? Below are some ways to start identifying them:

  1. What do you love doing? What are you passionate about? What can you spend hours lost in?
  2. As a child, what did you love playing? What got you excited and made you happy?
  3. Write down your strengths. What comes easily to you? What are you known for? What do people say you are good at?
  4. If you still can’t think of anything, ask those closest to you – What am I good at? What is unique about me?

Now that you have identified your gifts, see how they make you special. See how they make you uniquely you.

One of my gifts is I can take huge chunks of information (no matter how complex), learn it, digest it and present it to an audience in a way they can understand it.

From 3-year-olds to adults, over the years, through my different teaching roles, I have done that effortlessly. My brain does that naturally. And I LOVE doing it. It lights me up!

Recognizing that, valuing that gift, and realizing that my gift will lead me to my purpose was the key.

Final Thought… What is holding you back from sharing your gifts? You don’t need another course. More practice or time to develop it. Take the leap and share your gift. It will grow. It will evolve as you use it and share it. The world needs more people sharing their gifts. Influencing others in a positive way. So come on … share your gift today.
