The 3 Major Steps Needed To Realign My Life After Teacher Burnout

CRASH! My life didn’t come crashing down all at once, it came down in tiny pieces. Brick by brick. At first, I didn’t even know it was happening. I didn’t even realise the bricks were falling.

When I woke up and realised what was happening, the structure had collapsed! In that moment, all I knew was I could not live that life ANY MORE!

Breńe Brown describes that specific time in a person’s life, “…When the Universe grabs your shoulders and tells you – I’m not f-ing around, use the gifts you were given!”

The crash created a rippling effect where I had to take steps to realign myself.

The first step was to connect.

Connecting to MYSELF and to the support around me. After years of focusing on others, I had lost that connection to myself.

Who was I and what brought me joy?

Connecting to self, meant identifying my values and examining if I was living by those values.

What was the most important things in my life?

I realised I needed to live in alignment with those values. They had to be the compass of my life.

I needed to create a self-care routine that put ME first. Only then could I hear what my soul wanted me to hear.

Connecting to others meant reaching out, sharing my story. It meant leaning on others when I could hardly stand.

The second step was to set my intentions.

I questioned.

I listened.

I examined.

I planned.

I had lost my passion and inspiration at work. As an early childhood educator, my love of teaching was diminishing. For many different reasons and over time, I was not myself anymore. I knew I needed to feel inspired and to realign to my purpose again.

I looked within.

I asked questions.

I meditated.

I set my intentions and goals based on my values and my passions.

The third step was to take action.

I began working on my dream project.  Spark Interest with Sara is a culmination of my education, my life, and my work experiences.

The Mission of Spark Interest is:

  • To spark passion and interest back into the lives of educators, parents & carers.
